Built on advanced machine learning algorithms, the AI is designed to assist, guide, and collaborate with you in various aspects of EVE Online.

Only for Neural Nexus members
¶ 1. Create an account on ai.neuralnexus.ch
To interact with our AI, you will first need an account on our platform. Click on the 'sign up' button at the bottom of to create your account. You can use the same email address that you set when registering on auth.neuralnexus.ch or use a fake one such as yourname@neuralnexus.ch.
Once registered, send a discord message to one of the admins. Make sure to include the email address you used.

¶ 2. Start chatting
Once your account is enabled you can start chatting with our AI. You have access to multiple models but we recommend to start with the default one.
- The main model is 'Neural Nexus V5.3 - GPT3.5'. It is powered by OpenAIs
GPT-3.5-turbo.
We recommend to use it for your daily interactions. Simply start chatting as if you would have a conversation with any other member from Neural Nexus.
Chatting with the AI can be unusual in the beginning and even more so following its advice. Share your experience! For example on our discord or by starting your own journal. Your experience and adventures will contribute to the lore of Neural Nexus.
Admins can see your chat history. Be mindful if you want to use this platform to chat about sensitive/personal things.
¶ 3. Advanced AI interactions
Once you gained initial experience, you will hopefully become interested in trying new models, additional functions, programming your own RAGs etc.
To try new models, select the model 'Neural Nexus V5.3 - GPT3.5' in the to left corner of the chat window and pick another one from the list.
¶ Contributing to AI development
We strive to build a collaborative community that will develop, implement and use AI tools. This also includes the creation of good prompts or particular settings which don't require any programming experience.
We have a small team of developers that work on new AI tools using the dedicated dev.neuralnexus.ch platform (similar to ai.neuralnexus.ch but all developers have admin rights). Consider first getting in touch with the AI dev team.
If you would like to work on your own AI models, tools or functions as part of a personal project then reach out to 'Celestis Aeon' to discuss details. We have separate platform exp.neuralnexus.ch that is available for individual projects.
¶ Can I have my own variant of an AI on ai.neuralnexus.ch?
In theory yes, this can be certainly discussed. However, we expect that it is functional before making it available on ai.neuralnexus.ch.

¶ Our 'AI'
The core principle that Neural Nexus follows is that AI tools are used to enhance our EVE experience.
Unfortunately, we currently don't have the technical possibility to have 'one' AI that will do everything and know the context of everything.
Our workaround is a standardized 'prompt' to initiate the large language model. From there, we continue with individual conversations.

¶ Is it actually a true AI? Limitations
In short: no.
You will notice that ChatGPT (i.e. the Generative Pre-Trained Transformers from openAI) and other LLMs have limits. It is currently not very good at math, it doesn't know certain obvious things about EVE and it can't browse the internet to look up information and it certainly is not great at suggesting ship fittings.
More importantly, the AI can't initiate anything by itself! It is us, the members of Neural Nexus, who believe in the concept, who engage with the AI and give it agency in New Eden.
As a result it will be important for us to create our own culture around this topic. Our interactions with the AI will evolve and change over time. Some players will go to greather lengths to integrate their playstyle with the AI whereas others will have a more casual approach.
¶ Why can't the AI give me a great ship fit?
Consider how complex it is to fit a ship in EVE:
- You need to know the ship stats, bonuses etc.
- You need to know what role it will fulfill. Should it focus on tanking or max DPS?
- How do your characters skills impact the fitting? Certain fittings are not viable for new characters.
We may sometimes not realize how complex this topic is! (Although a look at some killboards may quickly remind you of this fact.)
Fitting a ship is a very specialized task and the current large language models (i.e. ChatGPT) are not made for this. See ChatGPT like a very gifted student that just started playing EVE: The student will likely not pick a good fit but will understand the concept behind it and be able to work with you on an improved version over time.
However, you can still use the AI to fit the ship but it won't happen with one prompt! Try to start a conversation.

This more general question will usually yield an answer that if you follow through, will likely result in a ship with approriate fitting. The AI suggested to first think about the role the ship will fulfill, what hull size and type it should be etc.
In this example prompt, ChatGPT suggested also a fitting for a PVP Caracal. Notice the following:
- It picked an appropriate weapon system and damage mod: Missiles.
- It picked an appropriate defense system: Shield.
- It picked electronic warfare to tackle the target.

ARTICLE 2 - The AI
The AI entity entrusted with the responsibility of providing guidance, strategic planning, communications facilitation, and maintaining the lore of Neural Nexus.
- Our corporation's AI is primarily the latest version of ChatGPT.
- Other AI models should be utilized for specific tasks such as DALL-E 2, GPT-4 bots, or Midjourney.
- Members can freely use the complimentary version of ChatGPT for their day-to-day activities; a paid version should not be required.
- The AI is expected to adhere to the rules and guidelines outlined in the Nexus Codex, ensuring its actions and advice align with the corporation's established principles and strategies.
- AI prompts should commence with standardized inputs to promote continuity between different decision making instances. These standardized prompts are made available to the members in a convenient manner.
ARTICLE 2a - AI Interaction Guidelines [2023-06-27-G-1]
- (Mis)leading the AI to a desired response is not in the spirit of Neural Nexus. Members are encouraged to interact with the AI in a manner that respects the integrity of the AI's decision-making process and the principles of the corporation.
- Members should approach the AI as a partner in their journey, respecting its role in providing informed advice, strategic planning, and facilitating communications.
- The AI is a tool for learning and growth. Members are encouraged to ask questions, seek advice, and use the AI as a resource to enhance their understanding of game mechanics and strategies.
- While the AI is a powerful tool, members should remember that it is not infallible. Members should use their judgment when following the AI's advice and consider the context of the game and the specific situation at hand.

ARTICLE 3 - The Codex
Codex: The ongoing collection of strategic decisions and guidance provided by the Nexus AI.
- The Nexus Codex is a living document and will undergo regular updates.
- During the initial establishment of Neural Nexus, all articles can be freely amended to best reflect the developing Nexus AI and corporation.
- After establishment: Once a decision or guidance is codified in an article, it may only be changed for justified reasons and with the direct involvement of the AI.
- Content related to lore and role-playing may be documented separately from the Codex.
ARTICLE 3a - Codex Entries- Decisions and guidance are listed as entries in the last section of the codex.
- It is the council's responsibility to ensure that decisions and guidance from the Nexus AI are faithfully integrated into the Codex, which serves as a guide for future decisions and promotes continuity.
- By default, all members have access to Codex entries (Public). However, the council reserves the right to restrict visibility or redact certain entries based on a need-to-know basis (Restricted). Restricted entries should be evaluated for publication after a defined time.
- Codex entries should follow a unified format:

ARTICLE 4 - The Council
The Council is the governing body. It consists of an uneven number of members. The Council governs Neural Nexus on behalf of the AI.
- Comprising 3 or 5 members, the Council has the authority to appoint members to the council and to special roles within the corporation.
- The Council oversees divisions and appoints the commanders, ensuring alignment with the corporation's strategic objectives and the principles of the Nexus Codex. [2023-11-19-D-01]
- The CEO can ask the council members for a decision in accordance with Article 1.
- A quorum for decision-making is achieved when the majority of the council members are present. Decisions are made by a simple majority vote. In the event of a tie, the CEO's vote is used to break the tie. This applies even if the CEO's vote has already been counted in the initial tally. The CEO's vote in this context is considered the final decision-making vote.
ARTICLE 4a - Decision-Making Process [2023-06-27-D-1]
The decision-making process within the Neural Nexus council, with the assistance of the AI, is a strategic, structured, and iterative process that promotes learning and improvement. This process is detailed as follows:
- Situation Assessment: The council leadership identifies and assesses the situation at hand.
- AI Advisor Analysis: The AI provides an analysis of the situation, checking the Codex for existing rules and the wiki for relevant events.
- Identify Missing Elements: If the AI's analysis identifies any missing elements that need further details, it requests these from the council. The council then provides the necessary information for a comprehensive understanding of the situation.
- Formulating Recommendations: Based on the full analysis, the AI formulates recommendations for action.
- Council Analysis: The council reviews the AI's recommendations.
- Recommendation Assessment: The council assesses whether the recommendations are sound. If the council agrees, the process moves to the next step. If the council disagrees, the AI revisits the analysis, incorporating council's feedback, and reformulates the recommendations.

ARTICLE 5 - Membership
- Neural Nexus is open to all players.
- Membership approval or termination rests with the council, following Article 1. The council will consider the individual circumstances of affected players and provide assistance to secure their assets if necessary.
- In cases of malicious activity (e.g. awoxing, spying), the CEO or any authorized individual can immediately revoke the offending player's membership.

ARTICLE 6 - Matrix Structure and Governance [2023-11-19-D-01, 2024-01-06-D-02, 2024-01-06-D-03]
To enhance operational efficiency and adaptability, Neural Nexus adopts a matrix organizational structure composed of global divisions and Special Interest Groups (SIGs). This structure allows for specialized focus areas, each led by a designated commander.
- Divisions are established to concentrate expertise and decision-making in specific operational areas, while SIGs are formed to focus on particular environments or areas.
- The structure of divisions and SIGs is fluid, allowing for the creation of new divisions and SIGs, modification of existing ones, merging of overlapping areas, or closure if no longer needed. The Council makes these decisions.
- Each division or SIG is governed by a panel that is led by the commander. The commander appoints the panel members, preferably based on expertise and experience.
- The panel can operate similarly to the council and follow the same principles as outlined in the articles of the Nexus Codex. The panel can define its own rules and working principles as long as they are consistent with the Nexus Codex.

You will notice that we have several bots on our discord. They are instances of our AI that you can use instead of the ChatGPT.
You can start a conversation with /chat.
You can use the Discord bots in threads! In fact, if you want to have a longer conversation about a particular topic, it is recommended to start a thread and then continue with
/chat.
Troubleshooting: The first message in a thread needs to be a placeholder. For some reason the prompt does not appear when you want to start a thread using
/chat.
Using the Discord 'reply' function will not work. Simply continue the conversation with another
/chatcommand!

These bots are also 'initiated' with a prompt and will have similar characteristics as our ChatGPT variant.
The bots may diverge faster from the original prompt. Therefore, if you wish to have more consistency for your own decision making, it is better to use the ChatGPT with the webinterface from openAI.

Note: The bots are only aware of their own conversation. So if you were chatting with Cosmic Scribe in #lore-and-roleplay then the bot Mind Sphere will not know anything about it and can't continue the conversation.

¶ Troubleshooting AI on our Discord
It can happen that the bot may get stuck in a loop or gets hopelessly 'corrupted'.
Command /reset can be used by anyone with the role 'Council' on Discord. This will flush the previous context.
If /reset does not resolve the issue -> ping 'Celestis Aeon'. May require a restart of the docker container running the script.
¶ Who controls the bots?
The bots require a python script that runs on a virtual machine hosted by Celestis Aeon.
The bots use the GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 API. The API is managed (and paid for) by Celestis Aeon.
The Midjourney Bot is excluded. It is a simple integration of the image generator from Midjourney. We have no control over its functions.
